I picked these babies right off of the vines and put them in the frying pan!
For fried green tomatoes
you will need....

  • 4 green tomatoes
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup corn mill
  • salt & pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • oil
~Directions~

  1. Heat up oil in a pan.(cover the bottom of the pan with oil)
  2. Mix flour, corn mill, salt & pepper (eye ball it) together in a bowl.
  3. Pour milk into a shallow bowl.
  4. Dip a tomato slice into the milk, covering both sides.
  5. Transfer tomato from the milk directly into the batter. Cover both sides with batter well.
  6. Transfer tomatoes from batter into hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Enjoy ^_^

I've made a couple batches of these too because my tomatoes are taking FOREVER to turn red. I use egg instead of milk and I put some Emeril's seasoning or Tony Chachere's seasoning with the salt and pepper.
Your's look so pretty!!

Thanks Tara! I didn't have any eggs at the time but I want to try it with egg just to see how they turn out. They were delicious :)

These look sooooo good! I've just now started to get ripe tomatoes, and haven't been able to sacrifice any for fried green tomatoes yet, but I hope too soon! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
